Curriculum Overview
At Evoline C. West, our curriculum is designed to ensure that every student receives a high-quality, standards-based education that prepares them for success in college, career, and life. Our instructional framework is aligned with the Georgia Department of Education’s most current standards and reflects our district’s commitment to academic excellence and equity.
English Language Arts (ELA)
Beginning in the 2025–2026 school year, E. C. West will fully implement the new Georgia K–12 English Language Arts Standards. These standards emphasize:
- Building knowledge through content-rich nonfiction and literature
- Using evidence-based reading, writing, and speaking
- Developing academic vocabulary through engagement with complex texts
- Encouraging students to make purposeful language choices in both formal and informal contexts 1
These updates aim to deepen students’ critical thinking and communication skills across all grade levels.
Mathematics
E. C. West follows the Georgia K–12 Mathematics Standards, which were implemented in the 2023–2024 school year. These standards promote:
- Conceptual understanding and procedural fluency
- Real-world problem-solving and mathematical reasoning
- A coherent progression of skills from grade to grade
- Opportunities for students to explore multiple solution strategies 2
Our math instruction is designed to foster a strong foundation in numeracy and analytical thinking.
Science
Science instruction is guided by the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE), which emphasize:
- Inquiry-based learning and hands-on investigations
- Integration of crosscutting concepts and science practices
- Real-world applications of scientific knowledge
- Alignment with national science frameworks 2
Students are encouraged to think like scientists—asking questions, conducting experiments, and drawing evidence-based conclusions.
Social Studies
Our Social Studies curriculum is also aligned with the Georgia Standards of Excellence, focusing on:
- Historical understanding and civic engagement
- Geographic reasoning and economic literacy
- Analysis of primary and secondary sources
- Development of informed, responsible citizens 2
Instruction is designed to help students connect past and present, understand diverse perspectives, and participate actively in their communities.
Instructional Support Team
Our instructional support team plays a vital role in enhancing teaching and learning across all grade levels. These dedicated professionals collaborate closely with teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure high-quality instruction and student success.
Ms. Jicorya Wyche (wychej3@fultonschools.org) – Curriculum Support Teacher- CST
Mrs. Wyche serves as a key instructional leader at our school, working collaboratively with teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators to support high-quality teaching and learning. Her role is multifaceted and essential to ensuring that all students receive rigorous, standards-aligned instruction. Ms. Wyche guides the placement of students in appropriate instructional settings based on data, assessments, and individual learning needs. She monitors academic progress to ensure students are on track and receiving the necessary supports. She works side-by-side with teachers to enhance instructional practices, offering feedback, modeling lessons, and co-planning to ensure alignment with standards across all content areas.

Ms. Erin Clarke (clarkee@fultonschools.org) – K–5 Instructional Literacy Coach
Ms. Clarke supports the implementation of the Georgia K–12 English Language Arts Standards by modeling effective literacy instruction, facilitating data-driven planning, and providing targeted coaching to enhance reading and writing instruction. She also assists with curriculum alignment, supports small group instruction, and helps teachers integrate literacy across content areas.

Ms. Alma Loredo (loredoa@fultonschools.org) – Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Chair
Ms. Loredo leads the school’s MTSS framework, ensuring that all students receive the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support they need. She coordinates intervention plans, monitors student progress, facilitates data team meetings, and collaborates with teachers and families to implement tiered supports effectively.

Ms. Shelly Ann Scott (hamiltons@fultonschools.org) – Instructional Math Coach
Ms. Scott supports the implementation of the Georgia K–12 Mathematics Standards by modeling best practices in mathematics instruction, facilitating professional learning communities, and coaching teachers on effective strategies for conceptual understanding and problem-solving. She also assists with lesson planning, data analysis, and the integration of math across the curriculum.
Together, these instructional leaders:
- Monitor and support classroom instruction through regular walkthroughs and feedback
- Provide job-embedded professional development and coaching cycles
- Collaborate with teachers to analyze student data and plan responsive instruction
- Offer resources and strategies aligned with district and state standards
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and instructional excellence
